Microbiology Applied to Clinics and Real life for Students (MACR-S)

Microbiology Applied to Clinics and Real life for Students (MACR-S)
We are a club of people passionate about microbiology and everything related. We found ourselves drawn specifically to microbiology because of how applicable it is to the real world and since the amount of time spent on microbiology in the class is limited, we decided to create a microbiology club where students with similar passion could take an in-depth look at the science.
Goals:

  1. Advance our understanding of microbiology
  2. Observe technical laboratory skills
  3. Discussing case studies
  4. Talk about how to treat various infections including the appropriate routes of administration and dosages according to the most recent guidelines
  5. Increase engagement and collaboration between our members and knowledge exchange

We have meetings every 2 weeks. They consist of a 30-45min theoretical part with both admins and students presenting, and then a practical part (around 1 hour, but can be more) related to the theoretical part.
We also collaborate with other clubs and organizations to create workshops for students to become better physicians in the future.
For exceptional students, we also offer research opportunities including case studies, epidemiological studies, pathogen/antimicrobial resistant statistical analysis, original projects, and much more.
